Quinson

Bathed by the waters of the Verdon, with its limestone cliffs, Quinson is the ideal place to practice all kinds of nautical activities with the family. History lovers will be delighted by the visit of the medieval village and the museum of prehistory.

Activities in Quinson

Hikers will find the departure of paths which will make them discover gorges and plateaus, steep paths along limestone cliffs, paths through the scrubland with lavender scents. We recommend the 9.5 km “Sainte Maxime et les Gorges du Verdon” ride on the GR 99 (which goes to La Verdière campsite) or the ride “La grotte de la Baume bonne”, 6 km, 2 hours on the theme of prehistory.

Mountain biking on a network of 40 km marked. Head west towards Gréoux les Bains or east towards Moustier ste Marie. Climbing the cliffs on nearly 170 routes for all levels.

Fishing in Lake Quinson or on the Verdon (1st category)

Nautical activities are also numerous on the Quinson nautical base: Canoe, pedal boat, paddle or electric boat rides, everyone can explore the lake and the gorges over the water and at their own pace. From Lac de Quinson, you can reach Lac d’Esparron by taking the 9 km of gorges available to you!

Barjols

Unmissable stopover during your holidays at the Verdon Regional Natural Park, the village of Barjols takes its name from the Provencal “barre” which means hills and “jouls”, pretty, which gave Barjou then Barjols. This village shelters in the XIVth century the residence of the counts of Provence. It became the capital of leather in the 19th century with its 24 tanneries, its 19 tanner mills

The Village is renowned for its famous 19 fountains which will allow you to discover the village through a marked circuit accessible to all, but also for the Vallon des Carmes, shaded stroll along a small river dotted with small waterfalls and natural pools, leading to a troglodyte chapel, a vestige of the 17th century.

Esparron-sur-Verdon

Perched at 386 m above sea level, it overlooks Lake Esparron, the place where the lake becomes winding, not far from the Gréoux les Bains dam. Vines and olives have been the wealth of this village for centuries. Today, the exploitation of the olive grove offers an olive oil very popular in Provence.

Visit the Dungeon of the castle of Esparron dating from the 13th century, the lavender distillation cooperative and the marina.

Bauduen

Below the dam of Lac Sainte Croix, Bauduen is a small village with colorful houses. It faces south and is surrounded by hills and forests in a site of exceptional beauty. Former agricultural village, Bauduen has become an essential tourist site in the Verdon. If you pass by there, take your swimsuit to swim in Bauduen beach!

Visit the city walls and the ruins of the 15th century feudal castle, the Romanesque church of Saint Pierre and Saint Paul, the old oil mill, its picturesque streets and stairs.

Gréoux-les-Bains

His particuliarity ? Its troglodyte thermal baths have remained intact since Gallo-Roman times and welcome numerous spa guests every year.

You will be seduced by this village at an altitude of 365 m with multiple fountains that you will discover around the alleys, bringing you freshness and well-being in summer. Let yourself be tempted by the walk along the Verdon from the village or settle in one of the shaded parks with panoramic views: Oliva or Morelon.

Visit the Templar castle in Gréoux-les-Bains

Castle dating from the 12th century then became in the 14th property of the Count of Provence, this castle shelters today in the vaulted room of the guards, exhibitions and hosts cultural events during the summer in the interior courtyard, offering an extraordinary spectacle, out of time. Guided tours are offered by the tourist office.

Montmeyan

Montmeyan is a fortified medieval village, 504 meters above sea level on a rock in the middle of the plain, not far from the lake of Sainte Croix. The towers dominate this village with alleys with vaulted passages of charm that will delight walkers passionate about history.

Aiguines

Located on the heights of the Lac de Sainte Croix, Aiguines offers you a breathtaking view. Long renowned for its craft of wood turning which you can visit the museum, the village has become a confirmed tourist resort.

Indeed, in addition to its alleys and its architecture characteristic of the pastoral villages of the Provencal mountain, with terraced houses and vaulted steps, Aiguines has a magnificent castle whose square silhouette flanked by four round towers can be admired. Unfortunately, it cannot be visited. The Saint Pierre Chapel hanging on the rocky spur which dominates the small town is the best point of view on the lake: an orientation table is fixed on its forecourt. Around the building, there are remains of the old castrum (fortified village). Going back down to the village, the Place de la Fontaine in addition to its fountains, you will admire the belfry, a large square tower decorated with a bell tower and a wash house. Also on the square, as is traditional in Provence, you can make a stop under the shaded terraces and why not a game of pétanque because let’s not forget that you are in the village of the production of the studded ball … Like many Provencal villages, scents like lavender, thyme or farigoule will accompany your stroll …
